My Husband Asked Me To Marry Him....Again

[Chorus]
Cuz if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you should have put a ring
on it
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
Oh oh ohhh
Beyonce 'Single Ladies'

After 12 years of marriage and the crazy bumpy roads, hills, mountains, abyss, black holes, pot holes, ditches, Mt. Everest's, quick sand, swamps, speed bumps, I think you guys get the picture, my man proposed to me again in church.

The whole thing started out when our church had a couples retreat in Ocean City, Maryland which was very lovely. One of the events was the Marriage Renewal of Vows, which I really didn't pay any attention to. However, I did notice that my husband was very excited about this particular event.
The day came for this and while we were returning back home (ceremony was going to be at the church in DE) I told him that we could wear our old rings. RECAP: when we were separated, we didn't wear our rings and when I moved back in with him, we still didn't wear our rings.
Well, when I told him this, I notice he had this smile on his face. Honestly I didn't want to wear those old rings, but I knew he didn't buy me a new one, so there was no other choice.....so I thought. That evening we went to church. Funny cuz I was trying to talk him out of it because a snow storm was coming and it was already 2" of snow, but he was persistent. We got there late and when the pastor was done, they started the ceremony. All the couples got up and went to the back so we could walk down the aisle. Pastor's wife was introducing the couples as they walked down the aisle. When it was our turn, Brian McKnight's 'You're More Then Wonderful' (one of my fav song!!!!) was playing....I was in awe, I love that song. So Pastor Faye said in the microphone, "this couple is a very special couple....this is Angela and D, they were married on Feb. 14, for 12 years...." We proceeded down the aisle. My hubby did whisper to me that he wished he wore a suit and I wished I wore something more formal...my makeup wasn't done, no earrings....not cute! When everyone was at the altar, the Pastor and his wife came to us with the microphone. Ok, I'm thinking, 'what the heck?!' The pastor had this huge smile on his face and said, 'your husband has something to tell you.' By now I'm thinking, 'ohhh lord' I was scared....is he pregnant?, lol. So D took the mic and started talking. Guys! I don't recall what he said because I zoned out and I'm sure I had a blank look on face. But I do remember him saying something about we were separated and I stood by his side, and he did get on his knee and asked me, "will you marry me again?" He took out this black box, and I was thinking "Awwwww!!! How cute!!!! He took the old rings and put them in a box!!! How creative and thoughtful!!! Wow!" But then when he opened the little black box, it was not the old rings, it was a HUGE NEW RING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOAAAAAAAAAAAA! WOWWWWWWWWW! WAIT A MINUTE! The ring is goregous. The church camera zoomed in on the ring and you could hear the people sighing with amazement. I was touched. I didn't think I deserved special things. I didn't know good things like that could happen to me....I only read or hear about them happening to other people....but never experience it of my own. I can only hope and trust God that there will be more good things coming my way.

It wasn't the ring that made my heart swell with joy. It is the transformed Godly man that I prayed for years (fyi, 10yrs) to manifest. God does answer prayers. All the prayers I prayed over my unsaved husband did not return void. Now he is totally a gentleman and a real man of God...opening the car door for me is an everyday thing...going out his way for me is what he does. He respects me, but more importantly he respects God and His Word.
